Function:
The Alzheimer's State Plan Task Force is charged with assessing the current and future impact of Alzheimer's and related dementia on residents of Missouri; examining existing services and resources addressing the needs of persons with dementia, their families and caregivers; and developing recommendations to respond to the escalating public health situation regarding Alzheimer's. The Task Force will submit a report of findings and date-specific recommendations to the general assembly and the governor in the form of a state plan no later than November 15, 2010 and provide annual supplemental reports to the governor and general assembly.

Details on Meetings
Number of meetings: A minimum of 4 meetings to seek public input. Additional meetings convened at the request of the chair for the purpose of completing the state plan, and at a minimum of one time annually to evaluate implementation and impact of the plan's recommendations.
Location of meetings: Meetings to seek public input will be held at diverse geographic regions in the state; other meetings will be convened in Jefferson City, MO.
Duration of meetings: 3 to 4 hours
Total time commitment: 30 to 40 hours

Member Requirements: One member representing the following: person with early stage Alzheimer's or a related dementia; family caregiver of a person with Alzheimer's or a related dementia; licensed physician with experience in the diagnosis, treatment, and research of Alzheimer's disease; state ombudsman for long-term care facility residents; home care profession; residential long-term care; adult day services profession; insurance profession; area agencies on aging; minority health; elder law attorney; leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research (2 members); directors of the departments of health and senior services, social services, and mental health or their designees; member of the house of representatives; member of the senate; and the lieutenant governor or his designee
