Mission:
The Missouri Committee on Lead Poisoning will provide leadership and encourage all Missourians to prevent and eliminate childhood lead poisoning by reducing lead contamination in Missouris environment; educating the public about the dangers of lead poisoning; instituting preventive measures so Missouris children are not lead poisoned; and, relegating the dangers of lead poisoning to history books.

Function:
To recommend actions concerning eradication of childhood lead poisoning through screening, treatment, medical management and prevention of childhood lead poisoning; provision of quality laboratory lead assessment capacity, abatement of identified lead problems, identification of resources for public and provider education, and procedures for disposing of lead contaminated waste.

Details on Meetings

Number of meetings: No stipulated number of regular meetings per year. They will be called as necessary, with a likelihood of 4-6 meetings per year.

Location of meetings: No stipulated location for meetings. Generally, they will be held in Jefferson City.

Duration of meetings: Meetings will generally be held from 10 AM to 3 PM on one day.

Preparation time for meetings: Preparation time will vary depending on the agenda for the meeting.

Total time commitment: Regular meetings, one full day, 2-4 times per year; Sub-committee meetings, 2-3 hours, 5 times per year; Review of minutes and documents, 6 hours per year.
