Mission:
The Safe Drinking Water Commission assists the Public Drinking Water Program and works to assure that all public water systems provide safe and adequate drinking water to the public by promoting and protecting public water systems.
Function:
The Safe Drinking Water Commission promulgates rules necessary for the implementation, administration and enforcement of Missouri's safe drinking water statutes.

Compensation: Members receive reimbursement for realized and necessary expenses.
Member Requirements: all members must be representative of the general interests of the public or of public water systems; 1 must be associated with a water system serving a population of 75 or less; 1 must be associated with a water system serving a population greater than 75 but not more than 2500; 1 must be associated with a water system serving a population greater than 2500 but not more than 100,000; 1 must be associated with a water system serving a population greater than 100,000; and 5 must represent the water-consuming public; all members must have demonstrated an interest and knowledge about water quality, and, to the greatest extent possible, the various associations representing water suppliers of the size classes referred to in this section shall be represented on the commission; all members shall be qualified by interest, education, training or experience to provide, assess and evaluate scientific and technical information concerning drinking water, financial requirements and the effects of the promulgation of standards, rules and regulations
