Gov. Jay Nixon visits with students from the linemen-training program at St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley following his announcement of the Show Me JOBS initiative on that campus.
During Gov. Jay Nixon's first term, Missouri weathered historic challenges - from nearly double-digit unemployment, to severe and deadly natural disasters.
Throughout it all, Missourians came together, rolled up their sleeves, and got to work.
Today, Missouri is back on track and moving in the right direction. The Missouri economy is growing, unemployment has been below the national average for more than 40 months, and communities struck by natural disasters are rebuilding and rebounding stronger than ever before. Gov. Nixon's commitment to fiscal discipline and doing the right thing for the people of Missouri has put the state on solid ground, moving forward, and building a brighter future.
Now in his second term, Gov. Nixon will continue bringing Missourians together to maintain fiscal discipline, strengthen the economy, and ensure that the Show-Me State remains a great place to live and raise a family.
To accomplish these important goals, Gov. Nixon has put forth proposals to invest in education, to grow the economy and create jobs, to make government more efficient and effective, and to strengthen and reform Medicaid.
