Gov. Nixon appoints new associate circuit judge for St. Louis County

Gov. Jay Nixon today announced the appointment of John N. Borbonus to fill a vacancy for associate circuit judge in the 21st Circuit. The circuit encompasses all of St. Louis County. The position became available upon the naming of the Honorable Thea Sherry as a circuit judge for the 21st Circuit.

Borbonus is a principal with the law firm of King, Krehbeil, Hellmich and Borbonus LLC, where he has been an attorney since 1999. His private practice has included a wide variety of experience in civil litigation; Borbonus has handled domestic and criminal matters in his practice as well. His previous legal experience includes three years as a Missouri assistant attorney general. 

His civic service has included serving as a board member of the Missouri Humanities Council; as a commissioner of the Des Peres Planning and Zoning Commission; and as a board member of the non-profit organization, Catch a Falling Star, which provides after-school programming for under-privileged youth in the St. Louis community.

Borbonus earned his law degree from Saint Louis University School of Law in 1994 and his undergraduate degree from George Mason University. He was one of three applicants submitted to the Governor for consideration by the 21st Circuit Judicial Commission under the Missouri Nonpartisan Court Plan.
