Gov. Jay Nixon today announced his appointments to four boards and commissions. The appointees will be subject to confirmation by the Missouri Senate. The appointees, along with their boards and hometowns, are:
- Missouri Commission on Human Rights (Michael P. Dierkes - St. Louis)
- Missouri Ethics Commission (Dennis E. Rose - St. Louis)
- Missouri Housing Development Commission (Jeffrey S. Bay - Parkville)
- Northwest Missouri State University Board of Regents (Joseph B. Bosse - St. Louis)
Missouri Commission on Human Rights
The Governor has appointed Michael P. Dierkes (R), of St. Louis, to the Missouri Commission on Human Rights. The Missouri Commission on Human Rights investigates, conciliates, holds public hearings and litigates complaints of discrimination in housing, employment and places of public accommodations.
Dierkes is a lieutenant with the St. Louis County Police Department and was a member of the first class of the St. Louis County and Municipal Police Academy, graduating in 1988. He has received the Chief's Commendation four times, and the Award of Excellence five times. The Governor has appointed Dierkes for a term ending April 1, 2015.
Missouri Ethics Commission
The Governor has appointed Dennis E. Rose (D), of St. Louis, to the Missouri Ethics Commission. The Commission receives and reviews complaints alleging violations of conflict of interest, lobbying and campaign finance disclosure laws. After investigation of these complaints, the commission refers the complaints to the appropriate prosecuting authority or disciplinary authority along with recommendations for sanctions.
Rose is a retired attorney who has practiced law for more than 35 years in the St. Louis area. He has been active on the boards of several local and regional civic and non-profit organizations. The Governor has appointed Rose for a term ending March 15, 2014.
Missouri Housing Development Corporation
The Governor has appointed Jeffrey S. Bay (D), of Parkville, to the Missouri Housing Development Commission. The Missouri Housing Development Commission works to provide quality, safe, affordable housing for low and moderate income citizens of Missouri.
Bay is a partner in the law firm of Van Osdol & Magruder in Kansas City. A graduate of the University of Missouri School of Law, he has been with the firm since 1981. The Governor has appointed Bay for a term ending Oct. 13, 2012.
Northwest Missouri State University Board of Regents
The Governor has appointed Joseph B. Bosse (R), of St. Louis, to the Northwest Missouri State University Board of Regents. The Board of Regents develops policy and has responsibility for sound resource management of the University, and determines general, educational and financial policies.
Bosse, a 1972 graduate of NWMSU, has been the president of NEC Insurance Inc. since 1977. He has served on the boards of several businesses and non-profit organizations. The Governor has appointed him for a term ending Jan. 1, 2016.
