Gov. Nixon names Shellabarger as Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Gov. Jay Nixon today named current assistant prosecuting attorney Jacob W. Shellabarger as Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney, effective July 1. Shellabarger, of Mexico, will succeed Jason Lamb, who resigned to become the executive director of the Missouri Office of Prosecution Services.

"County prosecutors are a vital part of our state's criminal justice system, and I am confident that Jacob Shellabarger will uphold the trust of the people of Audrain County as their prosecutor," Gov. Nixon said.

Shellabarger joined the Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney's Office in September 2007, and has prosecuted both felony and misdemeanor cases for the office. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Law and obtained his bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri as well.
