Gov. Nixon appoints Ransdall to State Tax Commission

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Gov. Jay Nixon today appointed Bill L. Ransdall (D), age 62, of Waynesville, to the State Tax Commission. The State Tax Commission supervises assessment and equalization practices, conducts hearings for individual cases from local Boards of Equalization, assesses railroad and utility distributable property, and determines the level and quality of assessments in 114 counties and the City of St. Louis.

Ransdall resigned today as presiding commissioner of Pulaski County in order to take his position on the State Tax Commission. He also resigned as a member of the State Soil and Water Districts Commission, a position to which he was appointed in September.

Ransdall previously served as mayor of Waynesville and as the state representative from the 148th House District. In the General Assembly, he chaired the Economic and Natural Resources Appropriation Committee and the Energy and Environment Committee, and was vice chair of the Agriculture Committee. The Governor has appointed Ransdall to a term ending Jan. 23, 2012.
