Gov. Nixon appoints Beverly Duncan as Linn County public administrator
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Gov. Jay Nixon today appointed Beverly K. Duncan, of Brookfield, as public administrator for Linn County. She will succeed her late husband, James L. Duncan, who held the position until his death last month.
Beverly Duncan, a Democrat, is a paralegal for the law firm of Chapman, Cowherd & Turner in Brookfield, and has been with the firm since 1991. She has accounting experience with this law firm and with other businesses she has worked for. Duncan served as an elected member of the Linn County Ambulance District Board from 1996 to 2008.
"I greatly appreciate the service that Mr. Duncan gave to the people of Linn County before his untimely passing, and I know they have confidence and trust in Beverly Duncan to continue that level of service," Gov. Nixon said.
The position of public administrator will be on the ballot in Linn County during the November general election.
