Gov. Nixon appoints Chief Deputy County Clerk Kelley Stahlin as new Buchanan County Clerk
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Gov. Jay Nixon today appointed long-time Chief Deputy County Clerk Kelley L. Stahlin, of St. Joseph, as the new clerk for Buchanan County. She will replace Patrick Conway, who served as the county clerk since 1983 before being elected last month in a special election to represent District 27 in the Missouri House of Representatives.
Stahlin, a Democrat, has been with the county clerk's office since 1993 and was appointed chief deputy clerk in 2001. In that position, she has played a key role in overseeing local elections. Stahlin also is active in local church, school and civic organizations.
"As the chief election authority for the county, the county clerk holds a position of great responsibility," Gov. Nixon said. "Kelley Stahlin has demonstrated her leadership ability within this office for many years under Pat Conway, and I know she will serve the citizens of Buchanan County well as their county clerk.
"I also want to express my appreciation for the many years of service given in this position by Pat Conway," the Governor said. "For 27 years, the people of this county placed a well-founded trust in him as their clerk, and now he is continuing to serve them in the Missouri House."
