Sabreliner Corp. to build new hangar at Perryville airport allowing company to service more and bigger aircraft

Governor Nixon announces creation of up to 400 new jobs in Perryville through aircraft corporation's expansion

PERRYVILLE, Mo. - Gov. Jay Nixon today helped break ground for a new hangar to be built by the Sabreliner Corp. at its primary maintenance and repair facility at the municipal airport in Perryville. The project is a key part of the company's objective to invest $6.7 million into the local economy in the next year and create more than 400 new local jobs over the next five years.

The state of Missouri awarded more than $5 million in potential economic incentives to support the project, which will allow the company to enlarge its paint and strip operations to service more and bigger aircraft. The Governor was joined by company officials and community leaders in making the announcement.

"It is exciting to witness another longtime, homegrown Missouri company expand and create hundreds of solid new jobs for hardworking Missourians," Gov. Nixon said. "I am proud that Sabreliner's significant expansion was made possible by the state of Missouri's strategic package of economic incentives. Those incentives are providing a measurable return on investment to taxpayers in terms of hundreds of new jobs created and strong local investment. The company's decision to expand in Missouri is another clear demonstration of the positive momentum in our state economy."

The state of Missouri awarded Sabreliner $3.7 million in potential Missouri Quality Jobs program tax credits, which provide tax credits to companies that create a predetermined number of jobs and meet other criteria. The state's incentive package also includes $1 million in Community Development Block Grant Industrial Infrastructure Program funding, $273,000 in Recruitment Assistance and energy and sales tax exemptions.

Sabreliner's flagship operating facilities are in Perryville, which houses the company's largest and most comprehensive maintenance and repair facility. The company supports a wide variety of customers including the U.S. Department of Defense and nearly all of the DOD's major prime contractors.

Aircraft supported by Sabreliner at its Perryville location include U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopters, U.S. Air Force C-21 Learjets, U.S. Navy T-39 jet trainers and propeller-driven T-34 and T-44 trainers flown by the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard and Marine pilot candidates. Technicians at the Perryville location specialize in a variety of services to the aviation industry, including maintenance; inspection; repair and corrosion control; aircraft interior completions and renewals and exterior cleaning, stripping and painting.

Sabreliner's new hangar will serve as a new paint and strip facility, which will allow the company to augment existing paint facilities and make the operation more efficient. The company's increased capacity to service more and bigger aircraft is part of its growth objective to broaden its capabilities and expand the types of aircraft it services.
