Gov. Nixon appoints Springfield CPA and community leader as new Greene County Treasurer
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Gov. Jay Nixon today appointed William R. (Bill) Compere, CPA, as the new treasurer for Greene County to replace John R. Hoffman, who resigned in December.
Compere, a Democrat, is a licensed certified public accountant with more than 45 years of professional accounting experience in the Springfield area. That experience included more than three decades as a partner of an accounting firm, and the handling of numerous audits of government agencies.
Compere also serves as a member of the Springfield City Utilities Citizens Advisory Council and on the Good Community Committee. He has been active in the past in volunteer leadership positions with the United Way, the Springfield Chamber of Commerce, the Springfield Rotary, the Greene County Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Springfield Jaycees and several other civic and charitable organizations.
"Bill Compere has an impeccable background in accounting and an outstanding record of service to the community," Gov. Nixon said. "He will make an excellent treasurer for one of Missouri's largest counties, and I am pleased to appoint him to this position."
