Statement from Gov. Nixon on China's airline selection to serve as transport of Chinese goods to St. Louis

JEFERSON CITY, Mo. - Gov. Jay Nixon today issued the following statement regarding the announcement of the People's Republic of China's selection of an airline to serve as a regular transport of Chinese goods to Lambert Airport in St. Louis:

"I am very encouraged that the People's Republic of China has identified an airline, the China Cargo Airline of China Eastern, to serve as the cargo airline that will fly a regular new route into St. Louis beginning later this year. This development is a crucial step toward turning the St. Louis region into a cargo hub for trade with China, which will benefit Missouri's economy immensely. I look forward to continuing to work with the Chinese government, the Missouri China Hub Commission, and the leadership of St, Louis to ensure that the Big Idea becomes a reality."
