Gov. Nixon appoints long-time President of St. Charles Community College to Lincoln University Board of Curators
Jefferson CiTY - Gov. Jay Nixon today appointed Dr. John McGuire, who served as President of St. Charles Community College for 15 years, to the Lincoln University Board of Curators. The Governor has appointed him for a term ending Jan. 1, 2017.
Dr. McGuire (D), of Glasgow, has served more than 40 years in community colleges in five states. Before serving as President at St. Charles Community College from 1996 to 2011, he was president of Owensboro Community College in Owensboro, Ky., from 1991 to 1996.
Dr. McGuire currently serves as a Leadership Coach for Achieving the Dream, the nation's leading reform network for student success in higher education. He has served on numerous civic and educational boards, including as former President of the Missouri Community College Association Presidents and Chancellors Council; as a past President of the Executive Committee of the Economic Development Council of St. Charles County; and as a board member of the St. Louis Regional Commerce and Growth Association.
The Lincoln University Board of Curators assures good management of the University; establishes policy; sets fees; grants degrees; selects and supports a president; and monitors presidential, institutional and board performance.
