USS Missouri Crew
April 2, 2009

Gov. Jay Nixon welcomes crew members from the new USS Missouri, a Virginia-class nuclear submarine, to the Governor's office on April 2, 2009. The new submarine, which will be completed and commissioned next year, will be the fifth naval vessel to bear the name Missouri. During the crew's visit, Gov. Nixon highlighted his support of the efforts of the USS Missouri Commissioning Committee to raise funds to assist the new ship and her crew. Joining the Governor here are Master Chief Reginald Brown, Commander Dale Green and Lt. Justin Hardy. On display behind the Governor is the silver punch bowl from the Battleship Missouri, the U.S. ship aboard which Japanese forces surrendered to Supreme Allied Commander Douglas MacArthur on Sept. 2, 1945.download
