Helping Families in Need
November 14, 2009

Hunter Joe Schock, of Los Angeles, (center) shows the 8-point buck he harvested on opening day of firearms season (Nov. 14) and took to Kahoka Meat Processing and Deli. Gov. Nixon was on hand to thank Joe for donating his deer to the Share the Harvest program, which provides the meat to needy Missouri families. With the Governor and Joe was his father, Murry Schock, of Kahoka, and Dave Murphy (right), executive director of the Conservation Federation of Missouri. The Conservation Federation was able to expand the program this year by more than 192,000 pounds of meat, thanks to more state incentives announced by the Governor.download
