Governor Parson Appoints Senator Kiki Curls and Senator Jason Holsman to Commissions

 — Today, Governor Mike Parson appointed Senator Shalonn “Kiki” Curls to the Labor and Industrial Relations Commission and Senator Jason Holsman to the Public Service Commission. 

Shalonn “Kiki” Curls, of Kansas City, was appointed to the Labor and Industrial Relations Commission

Senator Curls represents the 9th Senatorial District in Jackson County, Missouri. After serving in the Missouri House since 2007, she won a special election to the Missouri Senate in February 2011. Senator Curls won re-election in 2012 and again in 2016. During her time in the Missouri Senate, Senator Curls has served in multiple leadership roles, including the position of Assistant Minority Floor Leader. In addition to her legislative duties, she also works in real estate development. Senator Curls attended St. Teresa’s Academy in Kansas City and the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Jason Holsman, of Kansas City, was appointed to the Public Service Commission

Senator Holsman has represented the 7th Senatorial District of Missouri, located on the western edge and southwest corner of Jackson County, since 2013. In 2018, he served as chair of the Senate Joint Committee on Disaster Preparedness and Awareness. Prior to his time in the Missouri Senate, Senator Holsman served as a State Representative for the 45th District from 2007 - 2012, including serving as chair of the Special Standing Committee on Renewable Energy in 2011. Dedicated to the field of education, he has also served as a social studies instructor for the Kansas City, Missouri, School District. He made an impact by teaching several subjects, coaching varsity athletics, and serving as chair of the Principal’s Advisory Committee, among other responsibilities. Senator Holsman holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science and U.S. history from the University of Kansas in Lawrence. He also holds a Master of Arts in diplomacy and military science from Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont.
