 — Governor Mike Parson met with rural Missouri mayors in Odessa on Wednesday for a roundtable discussion. The roundtable consisted of challenges and priorities that local municipalities are facing. Some of the topics discussed were infrastructure and workforce development.

“It was a privilege to meet with the mayors and review their upcoming priorities and areas of need,” said Governor Parson. “We need discussions like these to be able to find concerns and areas that we can improve. This collaborative effort is a first step in building a sustainable tomorrow for our rural communities as we move Missouri forward.”

The Mayor of Odessa, Adam Couch, introduced and welcomed Governor Parson. Other mayors in attendance included: Darlene Breckenridge, Cameron; Michael Brown, Concordia; Jared Carr, Lebanon; Jennifer Cary, Tipton; Reed Dupy, Chillicothe; Adam Morton, Knob Noster; Eddie Simons, Warsaw; Doyle Weeks, Holden; Fred Wiedner, Lexington; and Mike Wright, Richmond.

“We appreciated Governor Parson’s willingness to come meet with us to discuss issues that are affecting our local communities,” said Mayor Adam Couch. “I look forward to continuing to work alongside the Governor to find innovative solutions to our shared challenges, including infrastructure, workforce development, and rural broadband access.”

Governor Parson has met with local leaders from cities all across Missouri to address problems and identify solutions. The Governor also stressed that the need to continually work closely with communities is imperative to tackling similar challenges that so many of these municipalities are facing.
