Governor Kehoe Announces Five Gubernatorial Appointments

Today, Governor Mike Kehoe announced five gubernatorial appointments to various boards and commissions.

Rachel Beushausen, of Springfield, was appointed to the Missouri State Foster Care and Adoption Board.

Ms. Beushausen previously worked as an organizational and talent development assistant in the human resources department at Missouri State University. A passionate advocate for foster care, she also serves as secretary of the Southwest Missouri Foster and Adoptive Parent Advisory Board. Beushausen earned her associate’s degree from Ozark Technical Community College prior to attending Drury University, where she completed a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Alice Fuerst, of Blue Springs, was appointed to the State Oil and Gas Council.

Ms. Fuerst has worked as a part-time instructor of geology since 1997 at Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City. She is an active member of the Association of Missouri Geologists and currently serves as the secretary and treasurer for the Missouri section of the American Institute of Professional Geologists. She has also served as a member and chairperson of the Blue Springs Solid Waste Management Commission, vice chairperson of the Department of Natural Resources’ Well Installation Board, and a geologist for the US Environmental Protection Agency. Fuerst earned her bachelor’s degree in geology from Stephens College and a master’s degree in geology from the University of Missouri.

Jennifer (Beth) Houf, Ed.D., of Jefferson City, was appointed to the Children’s Trust Fund Board.

Ms. Houf is the principal at Capital City High School within the Jefferson City Public School District. She currently sits on several boards, including the National Association of Secondary School Principals, the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals, and Lincoln University's REGAL Advisory Board. Houf attended the University of Missouri, where she earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education, a master's degree in education-curriculum and instruction, an educational specialist degree, and a Doctor of Education in Education Leadership and Policy Analysis.

Drew Lock, of La Plata, was appointed to the State Soil and Water Districts Commission.

Mr. Lock works in northeastern Missouri as the president of Lock Farms Inc. and the manager of Lock Land & Livestock LLC. He is active and involved in his community, serving as a member of the Missouri Farm Bureau Board, president of the Adair/Schuyler County Farm Bureau, and a member of both the Missouri Cattlemen's Association and the La Plata FFA Advisory Board. Lock earned his bachelor's degree in agricultural science from Northwest Missouri State University.

Craig Stevenson, of Hallsville, was reappointed to the Missouri State Foster Care and Adoption Board.

Mr. Stevenson is the population health strategy manager for Home State Health and previously served as the director of policy and advocacy for Kids Win Missouri. He is currently serving on the stewardship committee for the Centralia United Methodist Church and as the president of the board of education for the Hallsville R-IV Public School District. Stevenson earned his bachelor's degree in political science and his master's degree in public affairs from the University of Missouri.
