Today, Governor Mike Kehoe ordered the U.S. and Missouri flags to be flown at half-staff at government buildings in Stoddard County, all police stations, sheriffs’ offices, and Missouri State Highway Patrol general and troop headquarters across Missouri on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from sunrise to sunset, to honor Bernie Police Department Lieutenant Eddie Mays.
Today, Governor Mike Kehoe signed Senate Bill (SB) 81 into law in a significant move to strengthen public safety across Missouri.
“Public safety remains one of our top priorities, and with this bill, we are reinforcing that with real action,” said Governor Mike Kehoe. “From improving oversight and licensing to supporting law enforcement and victims of childhood abuse, this legislation gives the state the tools it needs to strengthen public safety measures.”
Governor Mike Kehoe has announced that President Donald J. Trump has approved two additional requests from the State of Missouri for major disaster declarations in response to the severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding that impacted the state, this time for events that occurred on April 29 and May 16.
Today, Governor Mike Kehoe amended his call to convene the One Hundred Third General Assembly in the First Extraordinary Session of the First Regular Session to include legislation that provides additional tools and funding for disaster relief, new property tax relief, a tax incentive program for economic development, and additional funding for critical budget appropriations.
Governor Kehoe served four-and-a-half years on the Missouri Highway & Transportation Commission. He also served in the Missouri Senate, where he worked to balance budgets, fully fund schools, and champion laws protecting Missouri’s children and seniors. As Senate Majority Floor Leader, he advocated for reducing regulatory burdens, cutting taxes, and creating jobs.
Throughout his term as Missouri’s 47th Lieutenant Governor, Governor Kehoe highlighted Missouri’s businesses, agriculture, and tourism while serving as a voice for veterans and seniors.
As a first generation-farmer and passionate champion of Missouri agriculture, Governor Kehoe owns and operates a 700-acre cattle farm in Phelps and Pulaski counties with his wife, Claudia. The Kehoes are proud parents of four adult children and are thrilled to embrace their new role as grandparents.
